Do people call philly the city?

Philadelphia nicknames include Philadelphia, The City of Brotherly Love, The Birthplace of America, The City that Loves You Back, The City of Neighborhoods, The Quaker City, and The Cradle of Liberty. People refer to Philadelphia as Philadelphia all over the United States. I'm just curious to know if people know of other cities that almost exclusively use their nickname. The answer can be found in history and in the rising power of language use.

The City of Philadelphia prides itself on being a little out there. From the food we eat to the ways we celebrate and, above all, the way we talk, Philadelphians aren't exactly known for integrating. In a city of creativity and individuality, it seems natural that Philadelphians have invented their own language. Although Philadelphia slang is not recognized as the most beautiful dialect in the United States, it is ours and no one can take it away from us (not that they want to).

As Philadelphia grew, most people chose to establish homes and businesses along the Delaware River, where all the activity and commerce took place, Sender explained, rather than settling orderly along the grid drawn on Holme's map.
